VISITOR CLARIFICATION TEXT PURSUANT TO THE LAW NO. 6698 ON THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA (“KVKK”)

The Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (“the Institution”) has prepared this clarification text in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Personal Data (“KVKK” or “the Law”) in order to inform you about the purposes, scope, duration, and other relevant matters regarding the processing of your personal data.

We hereby inform you that your personal data may be:

  • Processed in accordance with the purposes that require such processing, in a manner that is relevant, limited, and proportionate to those purposes,

  • Recorded and maintained accurately and up-to-date as provided by you or as communicated to us,

  • Stored, preserved, reorganized, shared with institutions that are legally authorized to request such data, and transferred to third parties under the conditions stipulated by the KVKK. They may also be transferred, classified, or processed in other ways as set out in the KVKK.

The Institution may process the following categories of personal data provided by visitors themselves:

Identity Data:

  • Name, surname.

Contact Data:

  • Institutional affiliation.

Physical Space Security:

  • CCTV footage.

The Institution complies with its obligations to take all necessary technical and administrative measures to ensure an appropriate level of security to prevent the unlawful processing of personal data, unauthorized access to personal data, and to ensure the safe storage of personal data. Where stipulated in the applicable laws and regulations, the Institution stores personal data for the period specified therein. After this period expires, personal data is deleted, destroyed, or anonymized.

Rights of the Personal Data Owner

As personal data owners, if you submit your requests regarding your rights to our Institution, your request will be concluded as soon as possible and within no more than thirty (30) days depending on the nature of the request. In this context, data subjects have the right to:

  • Learn whether personal data is being processed, and if so, request related information,

  • Learn the purpose of personal data processing and whether the data is used in accordance with that purpose,

  • Know the third parties to whom personal data is transferred, whether domestically or abroad,

  • Request the correction of incomplete or inaccurate personal data and request that the correction be communicated to third parties to whom the data has been transferred,

  • Request the deletion or destruction of personal data if the reasons requiring its processing no longer apply, even if it was processed in accordance with the law and other relevant legislation, and request that this be notified to third parties to whom the data has been transferred,

  • Object to any outcome that is to the detriment of the individual, which arises from the exclusive analysis of the processed data via automated systems,

  • Request compensation in the event of damages resulting from the unlawful processing of personal data.
